Viktor L. Ewing-Givens, born in Houston in 1987, is the middle child of three sons. His work is shaped by a lineage of spirit workers, teachers, makers, and civic leaders from the Edo tribe of Nigeria. Givens holds a BA from Fisk University and both an MA and MFA from Columbia College Chicago. He is the founding creative director of Southern Android Productions, a cultural research project focused on the healing and creative potential of ancestral archives through immersive tours and performances. A lover of dance, cornbread, and black-eyed peas, Givens is currently restoring rural estates in Crockett, TX, to create a cultural arts residency that explores the Afro-Atlantic archive.
