Sacred Steps: A Cultural Arts Education Convening
Sacred Steps is a one-day professional development experience designed for arts educators and classroom teachers, with a focus on strengthening culturally responsive, arts-integrated instruction across content areas. Rooted in Black and Indigenous histories, the workshop uses movement, music, and storytelling to support student engagement in social studies, literacy, and social-emotional learning.
Presented by Nia’s Daughters Movement Collective and Danza Azteca Macuilxochitl, this training equips educators with research-informed, embodied learning strategies that can be directly applied in K–12 classrooms. Through guided practice, curriculum exploration, and structured reflection, participants build capacity to deliver historically grounded content while supporting diverse learners.
Educators will leave with adaptable lesson frameworks, clear instructional strategies, and tools to implement culturally responsive teaching practices with confidence and care.
