Nia's Daughters Movement Collective
Nia is Swahili for Purpose. We intend to create with purpose. We hold sacred the knowledge and practices bestowed upon us by our fore-mothers, so we will forever give reverence and honor that we are their daughters. Movement possesses a duality- movement in the physical embodiment, and movement in terms of progress and social action. We are a collective because I value the experience that all artists bring in from other spaces they lend their minds, bodies, and souls.
NDMC will be a work in progress, if you will. We are committed to excellence in dance and the arts. We are also equally committed to dismantling all systems of oppression and we know that dance is in need of decolonization.
